Tenbury Wells and Leominster are market towns located in a beautiful area of English countryside, between the city of Worcester and the Welsh border.
Queen Victoria used to call Tenbury Wells ‘my little Town in the Orchard’ and for over 100 years it’s been renowned for annual holly and mistletoe auctions, which are some of the largest in the UK and something of a national institution.
Leominster (pronounced ‘Lemster’) is located west of Tenbury Wells and is famed for its wealth of antique shops and numerous, distinctive black and white Tudor houses.
OV has two major food packaging facilities in the area, one located just outside each of these historic towns…
PACK IT UP
At OV Tenbury Wells we carry out a process called ‘powder handling’, which involves blending a wide range of products from basic cornflour to complex cake mixes, as well as intermediate ingredients for the ready meal sector. We then package these powders for industrial and bulk use.
OV Leominster is our purpose-built food packaging factory. Here we receive a range of bulk products, including fudge, chocolate and sugar sprinkles, from our manufacturing sites across the UK and Europe.
The team at Leominster repackage these into smaller food packaging formats for delivery to customers. We can pack in a whole range of packaging sizes, from 3g sachets to 100g home baking jars and right up to 800ml jars for the retail, food service and Quick Service Retail (QSR) sectors.
There’s a certain number of regular core lines always being packaged at these sites, alongside changing themed and seasonal lines.
ALWAYS INNOVATING
Constantly adapting, staying at the forefront of trends, and providing our customers with exactly what they need are fundamental to how we run our business. We want to produce wholesale and retail products for our customers that are of the very best quality, that look great and that make life easier for the people who use them: whether that’s in a commercial or a home baking environment.
As part of this drive for excellence, we’re always looking to balance our environmental responsibility, finding ways to create less waste, incorporate eco friendly packaging and operate as efficiently as possible. To help achieve this, we’ve introduced a team of Sustainability Ambassadors throughout the OV group to identify and drive through changes to the way we work.
We’re always innovating to be more sustainable, and one of the ways we’re doing this right now is by introducing a Packaging Innovation team across the wider OV Group. This dedicated team of individuals are sharing knowledge and expertise across continents and analysing and testing a number of potential changes to our retail and wholesale packaging… stay tuned for more details on the important work they’re doing in future blog posts.
